Currently, our 56 pupils are split into 3 classes, these are enhanced by dedicated teaching and support staff who provide a broad and balanced curriculum for the pupils in our care. Click on the photographs below to find about the learning that takes place in each class.
Welcome to Class 1
We are Reception and Year One. Our Teacher is Miss Verity and we are supported by Mrs Farrow, Mrs Allan-Hooks and Mrs BonhamIn Class 1 we encourage children to explore, investigate and learn through first-hand experiences both indoors and outdoors. We enjoy following the children’s interest and ideas which means we could be learning about space one minute and lighthouses the next!
Welcome to Class 2
In Class Two we always working hard and have fun. There are 14 year twos and threes and Mrs Harris and Mrs Percival help us with our learning. We are always eager to find out about new things! We do lots of cross-curricular work based around our topics which start with a 'launch pad' and end with a 'landing pad' activity to make our learning even more fun and memorable. We like having a laugh but we are super serious when it comes to improving our skills.
Our current topics are:
Fractions in maths - Y2 are still practising 2, 5 and 10 times tables, Y3 are still practising 3, 4 and 8 times tables because these help a lot!
Narratives and storytelling in writing - we are looking at lots of different stories which have lessons and morals, re-telling them and writing our own. We have been reading Harry the Poisonous Centipede together too.
We all have Sumdog logins that we can use at school and at home, if you can't remember your password Mr can get it back for you!
The school code is bartoncofe. It is free to play on computers using the internet and is free to download and play using the tablet app.
Welcome to Class 3
In 2016-17 Class 3 is made up of twenty seven children in Years 4, 5 and 6 and, as such, focuses on developing independent learners and preparing pupils to be outstanding citizens. Pupils take on greater responsibilities and play an active role in creating a happy and safe school atmosphere, including assuming roles in assemblies, being buddies for younger pupils and developing leadership skills that have a positive impact on themselves, school and the local community. Mr Weighman is our Class 3 teacher, supported by Mrs Dreaves and Mrs Kirby. In Class 3, the learning is fast paced with opportunities for pupils to stretch themselves academically and take the most from their learning in an independent way. We follow a creative curriculum and our learning is brought to life by exciting 'Launch Pad' and 'Landing Pad' activities. Year 6 pupils are preparing for the end of key stage SATS in Reading, Maths and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.
Class 3 children are able to access a range of sporting events and have achieved great success in the recent past in a variety of sports from football to hockey and rugby to athletics. Mr Weighman loves to teach PE and he takes us to as many sporting competitions as he can. We love sport in Class 3
In addition to developing academically, pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 are at an important time in nurturing their spiritual, moral, social and cultural skills. Through developing a wide range of skills, responsibilities and building independence, Class 3 pupils are developing skills to ‘learn for life’.
